Economist - Urban and Regional Economics
Bachelors in Economics from the Universidade Federal de Viçosa (UFV), Brazil. Masters degree in Economics from the Center for Regional Development and Planning of the Faculdade de Ciências Econômicas from the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (Cedeplar/Face/UFMG), Brazil. In the last years, Mr. Almeida worked as a consultant for startups and for institutions such as UN-Habitat,World Bank, Lincoln Institute of Land Policy and Minas Gerais’ state government.
He is PhD Candidate on Economics at Cedeplar/UFMG and is working on the “State and Large-Scale Urban Projects” research project, funded by the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy. His PhD thesis is related with the topics of globalization, large-scale urban projects, land value and gentrification. He is also a founding member and coordinator of the YSI/Inet working group on Urban and Regional Economics. He is interested on Regional and Urban Economics, Real Estate dynamics, Economic Development, Political Economy, Regional and Urban Planning, Economic Geography, History of Economic Thought, Methods of Regional and Urban Analysis.
