Matthew Sware is the Assistant Vice President of Development at the Institute for New Economic Thinking.
Previously, Sware was the Development Director at the Clinic for Special Children, a pediatric primary care and genomic research institution in Strasburg, Pennsylvania.
As a member of the clinic’s four-person leadership team, Sware developed and implemented a comprehensive rebranding campaign. He secured foundation grants for infrastructure and capacity building projects and raised support from institutions and individuals. Under his leadership, charitable giving to the clinic doubled within two years.
Sware began his fundraising career as a gift officer at Carnegie Mellon University. Previously, he worked as an IT Analyst for Johnson & Johnson, where he graduated from the Information Technology Leadership Development Program.
Sware volunteers as a fundraising consultant for non-profit organizations working in historic preservation and youth development. He graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a joint degree in cognitive psychology and music performance and continues to perform as a baritone soloist and chorister. Sware is currently attending the Yale School of Management to pursue an MBA with a concentration in sustainability.
