Nancy Deutsch is the Senior Vice President of Development for the Institute for New Economic Thinking.
Prior to joining the Institute, Deutsch was the Vice President for Advancement at the Santa Fe Institute, an independent research institute dedicated to better understanding ubiquitous patterns found in nature via the study of networks, economics, conflict and cooperation, novelty, innovation and invention. In her role, Deutsch oversaw both individual and family foundation fundraising and managed the corporate partners program. Under Deutsch’s leadership, individual giving increased significantly and she successfully led the Institute’s 30th Anniversary Campaign that exceeded goal in record time. In addition, Deutsch closed transformational gifts leading to a second academic campus, the first staff endowed chair, and the first significant bequest for the Institute.
Deutsch’s career has been built upon a successful track record in fundraising at institutions such as UCLA, Loyola Marymount University, and UC Irvine along with public broadcasting in Washington D.C. and Dallas. A hallmark of Deutsch’s approach is the ability to engage prospective donors in nuanced strategies to connect their own intellectual curiosity to the opportunities and priorities of the organization. For the Institute, Deutsch will build upon the existing fundraising program to increase organizational sustainability and the donor pipeline.
Deutsch is a member of numerous professional organizations and is active in the Santa Fe community.
